So glad you stopped by my blog, thank you!

Who am I?  I’m a wife and mother. I’m also a finder of most lost things in our house (except socks), a cook, a housekeeper, a laundress, animal lover, Pinterest and coffee addict. I collect coffee mugs and magnets (although the dogs have chewed several of those). I also love to read (but rarely have time with my four-year old around) so now I’m also collecting books.

It’s about the simple things: I enjoy the simple things in life (on most days anyway, I am human) – painting my daughter’s toes, a good cup of coffee, hugs, and the squeal of delight my daughter makes when someone she loves walks through our door. My personal life philosophy is pretty simple – if nobody is sick and nobody is hurt then it’s a relatively small problem.

It’s Better to Laugh or You’ll Cry: In life, sometimes you just have to laugh or you’ll end up crying. I enjoy a good belly laugh. When I need a good laugh I watch I Love Lucy. Even now, in 2013, I can relate to some of her dilemmas as a woman and wife  (now that’s the sign of a true classic! The chocolate factory episode is one of my favorites)  Another plus, it’s child-friendly.

 

Working Mom Turned SAHM: Within a year after my daughter was born, I accepted a promotion (crazy!) I had to work longer hours, I was in charge of 25 employees. My sense of self became tied to the company’s bottom line (at least that’s how it began to feel) I got home late and had little time with my daughter. I often worked on the weekends as well. My holidays were ruined. I had no life (when I wasn’t working my husband was). I fell behind on housework. I didn’t have time to cook dinner. I kept this up for almost three years and my job only grew more demanding during that time. At last, a decision was made for me to stay home with my daughter. I began my transition as a stay-at-home-mom with the love and support of my husband, family, and close friends earlier this year. We took a leap of faith and my little family has never been happier.
